Berrigan Doube Lawyers is a law firm located in the central business districts of Melbourne and Sydney. The firm owes its name to Gerald Berrigan who commenced legal practice in 1927 from South Melbourne having previously been employed at the Australian Taxation Office. In 1974, Jeffrey Doube purchased the practice and conducted its business for more than 30 years. Branch offices were subsequently opened to service rural communities. Gerald Berrigan remained with the firm as a lawyer until his passing in 1989.
Recent changes have seen the firm consolidate and relocate to Collins Street premises adjacent to the Australian Stock Exchange in Melbourne and George Street premises close to Circular Quay in Sydney. Bart Janowski and John Cheng joined the firm as partners and in keeping with tradition, Jeffrey Doube remains with the firm in the role of Special Counsel. Our clients include international corporations, local individuals and national businesses, many of whom are household names throughout Australia and the world.
